NEWSLETTER August 2012

Message from The Area Coordinator
We have had quite a chilly spell so hope that you have all kept warm and also kept an eye on your neighbours who may not be as active or able to do things as easily in the cold weather. A friendly knock on the door to see if they are ok and need any help would be much appreciated by our older and less mobile residents. It will soon be spring and we can get out and about in the garden again perhaps you could offer to help with some tidying up or planting of bulbs/seeds.
Just checking on your neighbours makes a big difference to many people’s lives & goes a long way in the ’’feel good factor’’ - try it!!
A belated happy birthday to Crestmead PCYC who last month celebrated 3 years in the community. With the wide range of activities available for ALL age groups, come along and support the programmes on offer.
Well done to Sgt Mel Cowie and her team who have made such a difference to the area.
Also congratulations to Beth Henry who won the Employee Excellence award at the recent Logan West Leader Business Achiever Awards. Another winner at the awards was Crestmead Friendly Grocer in Julie Street, so well done to Baz Rizk & family & staff for their hard work & thanks for their support to NHW.
Congratulations to the Woodlands NHW group who held their launch in mid August this just goes to show more groups are starting up than closing! I would like to extend this invitation to you to come along to one of our meetings at the PCYC building and become an active part of YOUR community.
Take care Geoff
