NEWSLETTER September 2012

Message from The Area Coordinator
I hope that the information in this newsletter will provide you or someone you know of some sobering facts regarding the road toll for last year. We must try and reduce the number of lives lost or damaged each year through pointless actions. As you can see out of 269 deaths last year, 244 were due to WRONG CHOICES made by a motorist. So in effect only 25 deaths were due to ACTUAL ACCIDENTS!!
The IDENTITY THEFT/FRAUD TALK is being held at Crestmead Community Centre on Sunday October 21st at 2.30pm. I would encourage you to come along and find out about the latest scams and attempts at stealing the most important thing in your life your identity. This seems to be the fastest growing crime and even the most wary of people will find some new attempt being made each day. You are most welcome to come and enjoy an afternoon tea with Crestmead Neighbourhood Watch group, there will be safe plate screws available for attachment to your car to prevent registration plates being stolen. We will also have police in attendance to answer your queries on other matters relating to crime. If you require transport we are hoping to have use of a mini bus so please email /ring me for further details.
The annual LOGAN LOVES VOLUNTEERS event takes place on October 14th between 4pm-8pm at Underwood Park, Priestdale. The Volunteer of the Year award closes on Friday 28th September so if you know someone who deserves to be recognized for their work in the community don’t miss out on voting for them. I look forward to seeing you at one of the next community events.
Take care Geoff
